Congratulations to Mr. Melvin Romero for being selected as a NEL K-12 participant. Romero is a sophomore student at Jordan Senior High School. Romero is interested in engineering, especially mechanical engineering, science, and cars just to name a few and he has a very high interest in the STEM field because of the limitless opportunities for him to take and learn. Some of Romero’s talents are great communication and a very curious but understanding mind. Romero believes those to be his greatest talents because they help him, not just in his career path but also in his regular life, interacting and connecting with others. Romero is a part of the Emily Krzyzewski Center, more specifically their Scholars to College program, they have given him motivation and hope to continue in his career path of choice but also have given him guidance in life as well, by gaining skills that are used in everyday life.

Romero has many dreams for the future because he is a very goal-driven person. He likes to have sets of small or large goals to help him to stay on track with things in both academics and personal life. But some of his bigger goals for the future are to become a successful mechanical engineer and to work at a good company but also help the world in any way he can. Romero wants to learn new skills and take risks to get where he wants to be. He wants to maximize any opportunity he can get and will always be grateful to those who have given him an opportunity to get a step closer to that goal. Another goal of Romero is to work with cars, not just in building them, but also in creating them. He wants to even lead a team of mechanical engineers in building a car that could benefit the automotive industry. But along the journey, Romero wants to enjoy himself while connecting with others and make his family and also anyone close to him proud that he was able to achieve something so great.
