K-12 CAREER EXPLORERS PROGRAM
The National Engineering League recognizes the importance of early professional development and exposure to the world of engineering. Gaining valuable research experience as a high school student allows students to take a deeper look into the engineering or STEM career of their choice before declaring their official college major. Below are some of the future technical superstars that gained their first professional engineering experiences with The National Engineering League.
Mr. Melvin Romero Campanur
Congratulations to Mr. Melvin Romero Campanur for being selected as a NEL K-12 participant. Romero is a sophomore student at Jordan Senior High School. Romero is interested in engineering, especially mechanical engineering, science, and cars just to name a few and he has a very high interest in the STEM field because of the limitless opportunities for him to take and learn. Some of Romero’s talents are great communication and a very curious but understanding mind. Romero believes those to be his greatest talents because they help him, not just in his career path but also in his regular life, interacting and connecting with others. Romero is a part of the Emily Krzyzewski Center, more specifically their Scholars to College program, they have given him motivation and hope to continue in his career path of choice but also have given him guidance in life as well, by gaining skills that are used in everyday life.
Romero has many dreams for the future because he is a very goal-driven person. He likes to have sets of small or large goals to help him to stay on track with things in both academics and personal life. But some of his bigger goals for the future are to become a successful mechanical engineer and to work at a good company but also help the world in any way he can. Romero wants to learn new skills and take risks to get where he wants to be. He wants to maximize any opportunity he can get and will always be grateful to those who have given him an opportunity to get a step closer to that goal. Another goal of Romero is to work with cars, not just in building them, but also in creating them. He wants to even lead a team of mechanical engineers in building a car that could benefit the automotive industry. But along the journey, Romero wants to enjoy himself while connecting with others and make his family and also anyone close to him proud that he was able to achieve something so great.

Mr. Aidan C. Walker
Congratulations to Mr. Aidan Charrod Walker for being selected as a NEL High School Intern. Aidan is currently a senior at Cherokee High School in Canton, GA (Cherokee County). Aidan enjoys playing basketball and football. He was inspired at a young age by his uncle to pursue a higher level of education and become an engineer. Aidan focuses most of his attention in school on the key STEM classes such as Algebra, Chemistry, Geometry, and Computer Technology. When Aidan is not working out or playing a sport, he spends a significant amount of his time reading books and researching social problems on the internet. He is a member of the Spanish Honors Society Club and Technology Student Association Club at Cherokee HS. Aidan’s future career goals include attending and graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) and working for Lockheed Martin as an Electrical Engineer. He hopes to be able to enrich the lives of people around the globe through the positive application of technology. Ultimately, he desires to inspire the youth to educate themselves and prepare for a successful career in whatever passion they have.
Mr. Travis S. Williams

Sherrod is a junior attending Faith Christian School in North Carolina, and participates in honors classes. At Faith, Sherrod is a member of the Leadership Academy, computer club, and the varsity football team. Once he has graduated from high school, he plans on taking up the major of computer engineering. Sherrod is working with The National Engineering League as an intern to give him the step ahead of others, and he also attends many engineering camps at Wesleyan College.
Mr. Logan Pilson
Congratulations to Mr. Logan Pilson for being selected as a NEL K-12 participant. Logan is currently a 6th grader at Starmount Middle School and he is from Boonville, NC. Logan is active in sports including football and basketball and he enjoys spending time with family and friends. His hobbies are riding ATVs, video games, and watching videos about cars.
